As of 2022, California had the highest percentage of foreign-born residents in the United States, with 26.7% of its population born outside the country. Following California, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Hawaii also had significant populations of foreign-born residents. Nationally, 13.9% of the U.S. residents were born in another country. This data highlights the diverse demographic composition of these states and their role as major destinations for immigrants in the U.S.
